Structural Integration

What is Fascia?

Think of the fascia as a saran wrap in our body. Fascia is the connective tissue that covers every muscle, organ, tendon and ligement. It is wrapped continuously from head to toe and covered the whole entire body. It shapes our body structurally and makes us who we are. As we grow through our wise age and deal with gravity, we logically lose the elasticity and bounciness within the fascia which makes our bodies rigid, tense and stiff. This results in pain, tension, and stress.

How does KMI Structural Integration work?

Structural Integration is a form of deep soft tissue bodywork with movement education. It unwinds the pattern of stress and tension that restrict the body from moving freely by balancing the structure in garvity. When the body is balanced in gravity, it performs at its highest levels of competency, coordination, movement, balance, flexibility, strength and ease.

KMI Structural Integration also abbreviates as KMI SI. The KMI SI consists of 12 sessions. The objectives are:

  1. to melt
  2. to reshape and
  3. to rehydrate the fascia in our body.

The benefits of the 12 sessions are:

  1. to restore the length of the tissues,
  2. to regain the softness and bounciness to the touch of the connective tissues , and
  3. to recover the gracefulness movement in the body.

Throughout these 12 sessions, the practitioner can assist you  to become aware of your habit and what inhibits your structure nd movement patterns. Each session focuses on a different aspect of the structure.

These 12 sessions are divided into 3 parts:

  1. The first 4 sessions are emphasizing on releasing the superficial layers of the connective tissue. This superficil layer can be seried as muscles close to the surface of the body which is known as sleeve muscles.
  2. The second part of the 4 sessions are targeting on the deeper core tissues which are also known as instrinsic muscles. These muscles are responsible for fine tuning ofthe motor movement and produce poise and fluid movement.
  3. And finally the last 4 sessions are gearing towards integrating the sleeve, the core and the breathing together. The work is more towards balancing and aligning the patterns of the body and rearranging the rotational patterns in the structure.

What to wear in the session?

For men, wear underwear or shorts.

For women, wear regular bras and panties or shorts.

Pictures are taken at the very beginning of each session for future references. In the beginning of each session, the practitioner will observe your balance, alignment, and movement patterns while you are standing and moving.

The session will last about 60 to 75mins. The sessions are recommended twice a week for 6 weeks constinuously.

How often can a person get KMI SI done after completing the 12 sessions?
