The journey of life has certainly led us to the different paths of life. It doesn't matter what phases of life that we are going through either we are searching for spiritual needs, or we are exploring to balance the structural needs, or we are looking for the emotional needs, and we always end up seeking for some sorts of guidance in life to sort things out. From every wound, there is a scar. Every scar tells a story. A story stores a lot of emotions in life. The structure of the body has the tendency to hold aches and pains as a security blanket to soothe the emotional needs. Thus, it is like a storybook that tells the journey of life that we have ventured many years.

What is fascia? Fascia gives us a structure and foundation, bone gives us a frame and muscle gives us the protection to the bone. Our structures are formed through the patterns of movements and behaviors. If a repetitive distress motion is performed over a long period of time, then the fascia tends to bound tightly together. The fascia coils, twists, winds and wrings to the point where the deviation of structure sets in permanently. This results in restriction of motion and distortion of gait. The distortion of the body progresses as we continue compensating the body. In our mind, we think we walk and look normal, but in the eyes of another, our gaits are totally imbalanced. Every living cell in our body is about movement. If there is no motion, then we cannot possibly be alive. That's being said. We need to jumpstart our mind, body and spirit by releasing the restrictions within the fascia. If our bodies are all in distress, then our mind, body, and spirit will be in conflict.

In term of injuries, it is all fascia. In order to correct the deviation of the structure, we really need to look into the body closely like a roadmap to observe where the root of the distortion originated. Whatever we do in life we need to reciprocate. Respectively, the connective tissues go the same way. Think of the fascia like the saran wraps that cover the whole entire body. When the elasticity of the fascia is being scrunched and bunched up, the movement becomes very restricted and the hydration of the tissues is gradually minimized. Let's look at the hips as an example. When there is a rotation in the hip, the origin of the injuries could be generated from the foot, ankle, lower leg, knee or upper leg. This results in the person to walk with a limp that eventually ruins the whole movement of the gait. Because of the injured connective tissues stay guarded, the nervous system is no longer able to initiate, engage and fire. Whatever it is shortened, it is over contracted and whatever it is lengthened, it is overstretched. Thus, the muscular system within the fascia remains frozen and stiffened. The nerves are trapped, compressed, and highly sensitive. That leads to an endless unpleasant experience of aches and pains. One primary injury creates secondary injury somewhere else in the body and eventually generates a domino effect of misalignment in the fascia system. The body always coordinates to move as a whole unit. The repetitive taxing loads eventually compensate the movement results in posture distortion. If the injury is left untreated, then this will end up traumatizing the connective tissues and joints. It will do whatever it takes to protect whatever comes at the body.

Again, if we are making the same mistakes repetitively in life, then we would never learn the lessons, would we? Comparatively, if we keep repeating the same old patterns or behaviors which get us trapped in this vulnerable situation spiritually, emotionally and physically, then our fascia tends to be stuck and restrained us from moving. In my world, we are locked short and compressed like an accordion or we are locked long and distended with discomfort. If we think that the aches and pains will eventually disappear the next day, then we are wrong. Aches and pains might subside or NOT, but the system will always be inflamed and aggravated. We are only making matters worse. All we are looking to achieve is traumatizing the connective tissues and joints. Next thing we know the fascia gets bombarded and overwhelmed and our postures become more distorted. Many of us blame aging to be the main reason for changing the body structure. Yes, age does play a major role in our biological and physiological bodies, but we are still greatly responsible for our health. We are indebted to our health. Let us be proactive rather than be reactive to the injuries or aches and pains. Please take control of the physical alignment.

Be well and take care
